Perennial tufted or mat-forming Grass with stolons that root from the lower nodes. The Leaf blades are flat and tapered 5-27cm x 2-5mm, with softly hairy surfaces, especially below.
The stems are 30-80cm tall and the Inflorescence has 2-6 Digitate, oblong spikes, 3-5cm long.
Spikelets are awned.
Native of coastal areas of southern and eastern Africa and introduced as a lawn Grass for shady areas
